The Fast and The Furious

The Fast and the Furious is seriously non-stop action, suspense, and drama all in one.  Starring Pitch Black's Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, and many other talented actors and actresses, this movie makes you sit at the edge of your seat for almost the whole movie.  The movie is not just about racing on the streets, and a love story.  In fact, the movie is about what it's really like, how dangerous it can be, and what people go through.  Vin Diesel, one of the stars, sends an important safety message to people about the racing done in the movie.  He explains that it was all staged for the film, and that the scenes and stunts were performed by professionals that have been driving like this for most of their lives.  You can view that video here.  My explanation of the special effects and visual effects in this film, is "It's like the Matrix, but with Cars", and I think that's the best way to explain it.  You should see some of the camera angles used in this film.  Now I look at movies from many different standpoints.  I look at movies from a cinematography point of view, the special effects coordinator point of view, and a director's view as well.  As an audience part of view, and a writer's point of view, I didn't think the very ending was as powerful as I expected.  That was the ONLY disappointment about this film.  Other than that, this film was unbelievable.

What's kindof interesting about the film is it was filmed in Long Beach California, exactly where Gone in Sixty Seconds was filmed most of the film.  Pretty interesting.  The Fast and the Furious reminded me alot of Swordfish, and Gone in Sixty Seconds.  The actors, the contrast between dirty environments and fancy cars put into a scene together, and the locations it was filmed in, as well as the various automobile references and scenes.

One negative comment though, do not buy the soundtrack.  I hate to say this, because let me tell you, I was just as anxious to purchase the soundtrack for The Fast and the Furious as I was to see the movie, but once I got the soundtrack, hoping it would have just about every song in the movie on it, after all, that is what a soundtrack is for, right?  Well, I was wrong, most of the songs had nothing but swears in them, and not one song that was on the soundtrack did I recognize in the movie!  Not One!  That got me upset, because I liked alot of the techno type songs that were used in the film, also that song "My way or the Highway" was not used in the film, it was only used on the theatrical trailers, so that was not on the soundtrack either.  As well as "Watch Your Back" is a song I recognized the title of in the film and later saw it's title in the credits, and I was sure those main songs were going to be on the soundtrack, but they were not.

Overall, for those of you who enjoyed Gone in Sixty Seconds, Antitrust, Swordfish, The Matrix, The Rock, or Pitch Black, will absolutely love this movie.  So, get your buddies together and go see The Fast and The Furious!!!!
