JURASSIC PARK 3

over all rating-  out of 4

By Andrew

Jurassic Park III, what were they thinking?  Ages 4 and up are my age groups to see this comedy...

The first Jurassic Park had a never before seen story, line of actors, and tremendous special effects, the second, "Jurassic Park: The Lost World" was just as cool with new dinosaurs brought into the prehistoric action movie, but, the 3rd......I must say, though it had some very suspenseful scenes, and they brought in a few new dinosaurs to the movie, they still bombed it.

To start out, Jurassic Park III had no script, at least an unfinished script was what the stars, Tea Leoni and Sam Neil had to follow for this film.  Also, like "The Mummy Returns", the new director to JP3 brought in a child actor, who which the group of dino followers go back to this island for because he crashed into a large rock pile while parasailing 8 weeks prior.  So anyway, Sam Neil is basically lied to, asked to "give a tour" from the air of this island, but they had lied and tried to land onto the island to rescue their (Tea Leoni & William Macy) son, Eric, played by young actor Trevor Morgan.

The movie introduced some new dinosaurs to the film, not seen in the previous Jurassic Park movies, the Pterodactyl, and a Stan Winston created dinosaur, the Spinosaurus.

The Special Effects>>

Being a special effects technician myself, I love any type of special effects, and the effects in JP3 were just awesome, Stan Winston ALWAYS does a great job on creating real-life, very realistic looking and feeling animatronic puppets of animals, dinosaurs, humans, terminators, aliens, crocodiles, and so much more.  Stan Winston's work is to me just phenomenal.

The Story>>

You know, for a movie like Jurassic Park, I don't think comedy between the dinosaurs, like certain reactions that they obviously just wanted you to laugh at cause they made the dinosaurs react somewhat like humans.  For example, one far-fetched scene, not counting the entire idea of dinosaurs roaming an island, was that the Spinosaurus eats a man, that has an emergency cell phone on him, somewhere in his clothing, and the spinosaurus swallows him, but as a sign to the group of victims, help crews try and call the phone, and thankfully they hear the phone ringing inside of this humongous dinosaurs body, perfectly, very loud, and everything..That was one thing I thought was just kind of stupid, but they needed something to add to the movie that would warn the group to add some suspense, I understand that.  Also, just the whole idea that the dinos talk to each other and tell each other to trap this person, or kill that guy, it's just that I was waiting for the dinosaurs to start talking to Sam Neil and the rest of the cast, like actually asking how the weather is, HAHA.

The Final Thought>>

Ok, there's no doubt this movie was full of action, lots of suspense, and a splash of comedy, but they could have taken a lot more time and just made the movie a lot better, as far as the story goes.

So, you've read my review, or skipped down to this section, but if you did read the entire thing, you know what I liked, and disliked, and if you agree with any of the comments of mine, you can choose to either see it or not to see it, if you're like me and want to at least give the movie a chance, go see the movie, I I gave it 2 1/2 Reel-Points, it's still something cool to see this summer after sitting down with a bucket of popcorn to see the first 2 action packed Jurassic Park Movies.

This Time, it's not just a walk in the park!

Thank you
