over all rating- By Andrew Michals on Monday July 29, 2002 SIGNS had not only very suspenseful moments, but also had many touches of comedy to it. I liked the camera angles chosen by Shyamalan, as well as the choice of music, and the way the film opened. When it first started, I felt as if I was watching a very old film, the opening credits appeared to be displayed because light was lighting them up, and they were in black text. Hard to explain, but it had a nice effect to it. Since I was at a special advance screening of SIGNS, near the middle of the movie, all of a sudden I saw part of the boom, which is the microphone used to catch the voice of the actors for the film, and I thought it was one of M. Night Shyamalan's fantastic camera angles, but no, have the screen was getting cut off! But then it was fixed a few minutes later. I am still going to see this movie when it opens this Friday nation wide, because people were laughing at so many incidences that I didn't quite hear every part of certain scenes. Overall, I greatly suggest this movie to all to see, although frightening for younger viewers, it is actually a movie you can take kids to, except for a few unpleasant situations with animals, which I didn't like because I'm an animal lover.
